Junior Triathlon Squads
The triathletes of the future

At Bayside Multisport Triathlon Club we believe triathlon is a sport for all ages and abilities. We encourage everyone to have a go and see what they can achieve in a positive and encouraging family friendly environment.

If your Junior loves to swim, run and ride their bike, has a reasonably competitive spirit and doesn’t mind a new and exciting challenge each week then why not give it a go.

Our training sessions focus on swim/run, run/bike or swim/run/bike – and there’s always something new and exciting to learn and challenge your Junior. The club trains at Manly Pool each Saturday. At each session there are one to two Triathlon Australia accredited qualified coaches. The coaches provide the Juniors with the skills necessary to be proficient swimmers, cyclists and runners as well as the importance of transition training.

Junior triathletes from 7 years upwards will be placed in a squad that is appropriate for their triathlon ability and experience. This criteria sheet outlines requirements that are needed for each squad level.

The progression of athletes, between levels, will be discussed once the athlete has shown that they can consistently achieve the criteria specified. When the criteria has been achieved, consultation will take place between the Junior Coach, the Junior Development Coordinator and the Club Head Coach. Families will then be approached regarding progression.

Communication

All training and event communication will be done through the Team App and our members Facebook page. Please ensure that you have downloaded the Team App and have submitted your correct email address, when registering.

At the beginning of every term there will be a Parent Support Group Meeting. This will be held on the first Saturday of every term from 7.30am - 8.30am. The purpose of this session is to discuss the training overview and any voluntary parent involvement as we love our parents to be included in our training sessions.

Races & Events

Bayside Multisport Triathlon Club members regularly sign up for and compete in the Queensland Tri Series races. The events are supportive and family friendly and we have a Bayside Tent and presence at the majority of the events. Families can enter these events at their own cost and entry and registration is paid for by athletes’ families. The Junior events are well planned, and officials are supportive and helpful. There is a huge range of triathlete abilities, from those who are doing their first triathlon to those who are regional representatives. Everyone is made to feel very welcome.
