2009 – 2012 For 4 years the only Triathlon entered was Enticers. (Too scared of anything over a 400m swim)
2013 decided to conquer the fear of Swimming and raced in the Mooloolaba 70.3 Half Ironman
2014-2015 Season, 17 Sprint Distance races including 7 Australian Sprint Qualifiers all accept WA.
Best organized Triathlon event was Sprint Distance Nationals Victoria, Melbourne, Elwood.
Most enjoyable triathlon is between Darwin Qualifier and the Straddie Pure. Both fun and great venues.
How did you get interested in triathlon: As part of the training for the 96Klm Kokoda Challenge in the Gold Coast Hinterland our team did the Luke Harrop Enticer on the Gold Coast.
I came 3rd last in the swim only because 2 other guys were nearly drowning. Needing a pushy I purchased an outrageously expensive Repco bike, off a mate for $50. The atmosphere and competition on that day has sparked my interest from that day on.
Why did you join Bayside Multisport: Previuosly trained with Bayside at Manly pool and eventually got to know a few team members. Competative, supportive and fun group.
What are your goals:
For Triathlons, to position in the top 3 for Australia at the ITU World Titles, in Chicago this September 2015. Just slightly excited. http://chicago.triathlon.org/
Personal Goals, Stay Positive for my kids and Jacki.
How much training do you do at the moment? Whatever my coach gives me to do J (Toby) between 11-22 hours per week.
What is your least favorite session and why: Brick session Bike/run. Because it is always a challenge to run fast off the bike when your legs feel like you have a child hanging off each leg.
If you could choose a wild card entry into any triathlon, any distance, money no option and training was on target, what would it be: Kona, Hawaii, Full Ironman.
What advice would you give to anyone starting to train for triathlon: Learn to swim, there are probably lots of different ways to do it, the only way I have found that is very enjoyable, gives step by step chilled out sessions and has improved my swimming in a short period is Total Immersion swimming. http://totalimmersion.net/
What do you do outside of triathlon: Look after the house, Kids etc etc.
What’s one thing people would be surprised to learn about you: I’m a Vampire.
What are you most proud of in your life: I am proud of my wife for being an incredible women and my kids in everything they achieve.
If you had one wish, what would it be: That peoples religions/prejudice not cause harm to others who aren’t the same.
